The IAEA Nuclear Knowledge Management School

Hosted by: The Center for Nuclear Security Science and Policy Initiatives (NSSPI) at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA, in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

Purpose: The Nuclear Knowledge Management school is a one week course that provides participants with specialized education and training on the development and implementation of nuclear knowledge management programmes in nuclear science and technology organizations. The School explores various dimensions of nuclear knowledge management, such as processes and tools, challenges and benefits, the influence of organizational culture, the relationship with human resource development, and the use of information technology for knowledge preservation and sharing.

IAEA Interregional Group Scientific Visit on International Nuclear Leadership Seminar

Hosted by: The Program for International Nuclear Energy (PINE) at Texas A&M University (College Station, Texas, USA) in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

Purpose: The purpose of this scientific visit is to provide a fast track, broad overview of nuclear leadership to managers working in the international nuclear project owner & operator, regulatory, governmental and contractor organizations. The seminar focuses on leadership through the continual reinforcement of excellence, commitment to sustainable and safe nuclear energy, and by developing leaders’ competence in motivating people to achieve their objectives.

IAEA School for Radiation Emergency Management for Small Island Developing States

Hosted by: The Center for Nuclear Security Science and Policy Initiatives (NSSPI) at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA, in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

Purpose: Professionals working in the management and coordination of nuclear and radiological emergency preparedness and response may be faced with an array of complex issues when reacting to an emergency. The School of Radiation Emergency Management teaches how to implement arrangements under the international framework of nuclear and radiological EPR. Students learn the basic elements of preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies, including emergency management systems, protective actions, public communications and international arrangements in EPR.

IAEA Advanced Training on Emergency Preparedness and Response to Nuclear Accidents

Hosted by: The Program for International Nuclear Energy (PINE), at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA, in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

Purpose: The purpose of this training event is to support and to strengthen EPR managers and related professionals (appointed officials, emergency management officials, incident commanders, regulators, environment specialists, etc.) in IAEA Member States to prepare and manage an effective response to nuclear incidents or emergencies. This will be done by providing participants with relevant information and best practices for emergency preparedness and response regarding nuclear emergencies.

The training program considers relevant actions in the development of an effectice4 national EPR program, ranging from pre-incident planning and preparation and key decision points. It also includes consideration of the field incident command perspective of the emergency, the coordination of multi-agency work (local, regional or national levels) plus communications with the media and with the public.
